This whole blogging thing...

Instead of sleeping or working on something useful like homework, I thought I'd write this post - this being about the third or fourth time I've typed the first sentence. Why is it that, despite impending or missed deadlines, pretty much anything (in this case, a thesis on the intrusion of electronics into our personal space - the reason we love to hate people using their phones on buses) becomes more interesting and compelling than the work at hand?

First things first: I hereby promise to post a minimum of once a week for the next year, without excuse. The consequence of failure will be one (1) hard slap administered by Benji (check out his blog, it's way better than this).

A bit about me: My name's Charlie, and I'm 17, living in London. I'm interested in computers/programming/web-mastering, gaming, electronics/design (and several related hobbies, including lasers), photography and videography. At some point, I'm also considering "playing" (not literally!) with some high-voltage or high-frequency projects, including but not limited to capacitors, theremins, tesla coils or nixie tubes. In fact, I'm interested in pretty much anything to do with light or electronics.

On this blog, you can probably expect to find a little bit of everything - I may well use it to document any projects I'm either working on, or have completed (the interesting bits of coursework, 3D printer, laser or computer builds, repairs of gadgets), web design/programming related stuff, reviews of TV, art, music, films or books (hah! like I've read anything longer than about 50 pages for years - which in itself is a little disappointing, given how much I used to love reading) and thoughts from my life.

Now for that homework...

Note to self: Change the layout and design.

  2. I am definitely looking forward to having 2 blogs distract me from work nowadays. And I completely sympathise with the lack of reading feeling, but I guess wizards just aren't as cool anymore, and vampires have really really gone downhill...
